Nails & Novels - March 2020

Hello!

March is filled with special days like Saint Patrick’s Day, Earth Day and the first day of spring. (Don’t worry, this month’s color isn’t green.) The book of March is “The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry” by Rachel Joyce which was originally recommended to me by a client of Brun! It was one of her favorite books and I can see why after reading it. I took my time with this book as it is both heartbreaking and heartwarming as well as surprisingly inspiring.

This story follows an elderly man who lives a mundane, repetitive life in retirement who ends up sent off on an unlikely adventure due to a piece of mail he receives one day. This story follows his journey which he is startlingly unprepared for. As he walks he unfurls his past and his regrets, toils over marriage issues, and battles his inner demons and what had lead him here. Harold’s adventure is a rollercoaster of emotions with a very unique ending that left me thinking that not all authors follow the same typical story base-line. I definitely loved this book and hope you do too!

The color for the month is “My Solar Clock is Ticking”. This color has been a favorite through the salon since we got it. Hidden away on our “new color” pallet for gels it can often be over-looked but once it’s spotted it gets picked quite often. This color is warm, soft and flattering for almost all skin tones, even my pale skin that doesn’t typically work well with red tones. It’s a good color to start lightening up for spring without jumping straight into the bright, bold summer tones. To try this color for yourself give us a call or click the “book” button in the top right hand corner to book in for your March manicure!

Thanks for following along!
