Nails & Novels - January 2020

January is a month of new goals and motivation. We’ve been in this winter slump and it is time for some drive to get into action! The book choice for this month is awe-inspiring and motivating to say the least. This book is the true words written by Gabriel Filippi that will leave you shocked that this is someone’s life. Without further ado, January’s book of the month is “The Escapist” by Gabriel Filippi.

This book is a hard to put down true retelling of Gabriel’s experiences climbing mountains such as Everest. He details some of the extreme challenges and gives some information that you never would have known unless you were reading his book or living his journey. I found that I ate this book up and didn’t want it to end, and even went back to parts to re-read certain sections again. I was left feeling really driven to delve deep into some sort of goal when finishing this book and although I didn’t read it in January, I made myself a list of goals I really wanted to achieve when I was finished. If someone can climb all of these insane peaks within a lifetime then I can learn to knit some mittens, you know what I’m saying? Pick yourself up a copy of this book, you will not regret it.

To go along with this daring book I have chosen a bold color that is as blue as skies we are hoping to see soon. January’s color of the month is a doozy of a name; “Super Trop-i-cal-i-fiji-istic”. This color is a perfectly solid, matte blue that will leave you thinking of either the ice cold mountaintops or the blue skies of a tropical vacation. Either way, it is an exciting and happy color that you may have seen our manager Wylie sporting here and there as it is in her list of nail colors she enjoys. Hope to see you soon to try on this color!

Thanks for reading!
